This crowdfunding initiative is a campaign being done by me and my friends from the corporate world to help brilliant and deserving students from the rural areas of India get into IITs. This will impact not just them or their families but the districts that they come from as these students understand the reality of life in their areas and give back over time. Let’s together create a new India.
These funds are to train students to prepare for the IIT JEE at the Bengaluru campus of the non-profit "Dakshana Foundation". This is being done in partnership with Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar.
All the funds collected from this initiative will go to Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar who are partnering with Dakshana Foundation in this venture. The entire cost of this 2-year program is just INR 1.56L per scholar. I am raising 78000 INR to fund 12 months of the cost of this program for one scholar. This cost includes tuition, cost of study material and reference books.
Dakshana Foundation has been delivering extraordinary results and funding this NGO is possibly the most appropriate as they are able to deliver. This leads to a complete change in the "economic" state of the students family in the years to come. See images below which show their impact over the last many years at the IIT JEE exams and the latest 2018 results too.
HELP ME RAISE INR 78000 AND FUND THE EDUCATION OF A STUDENT FOR 1 YEAR. IF I AM ABLE TO RAISE INR 1.56L, IT WILL FUND THE EDUCATION FOR THE ENTIRE 2-YEAR TERM.
I shall get feedback from Dakshana and then post an update on this campaign page once in 6-months to give you details of how these funds are making an impact on the student.

ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN
Hi, I am G A Sreevatsadhara Sarma and I am keen to do my bit towards betterment of the society. Am raising funds to support students from rural India to get out of the poverty circle through education and giving them a bright future.
ABOUT DAKSHANA AND THE IIT PROGRAM:
Dakshana focuses on poverty alleviation through education. Dakshana alleviates poverty by identifying brilliant but impoverished teenagers and providing intensive coaching for 2 years for the IIT entrance exam. Dakshana scholars are a rare breed of gifted students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and government schools across India. They are selected for intensive coaching after Class 10 & Class 12 based on their academic record and results from Dakshana’s proprietary testing.
Dakshana offers two scholarship coaching programs to students mainly from rural families who aspire to prepare for IIT and medical entrance exams:
1. The Dakshana 2-year coaching scholarship program is exclusively for students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV). More than 1400 of Dakshana scholars, till 2017, have cracked the JEE Advanced to pursue an education in engineering and science at IITs and other premium institutions. One in every two Dakshana scholars has cracked the IIT entrance examination. The cost of this program is 1.56L INR for 2 years and includes tuition/training plus cost of study material and reference books.
2. Dakshana’s 1-year coaching scholarship program is offered to brilliant but impoverished students from government and government-aided schools in India, after Class 12 (Science), at the Dakshana Valley, Pune. The scholars are provided free coaching, accommodation & food for the year at Dakshana Valley. Dakshana scholars coached under the 1-year coaching program produced 100% results at the JEE Mains 2017 and 98% at JEE Advanced 2017. The first Dakshana Class of NEET 2017 produced a 100% result. The cost of this program is 1.75L INR for 12 months.
The 24 month (2-year program) is conducted at 7 campuses across India – JNV Bengaluru Urban (Karnataka), JNV Bundi (Rajasthan), JNV Kottayam (Kerala), JNV Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), JNV Pune (Maharashtra), JNV Rangareddy (Telangana), JNV Silvassa (Dadra & Nagar Haveli).
Dakshana has been doing this since 2007. This campaign focusses only on students who are being trained for the IIT JEE exam and aims to fund students in the 2-year program.

ABOUT ROTARY & EDUCATION
Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar has been actively engaged with assisting the underprivileged have access to education and pursue their dreams. We work with multiple government schools and aid them with desks, benches, computer systems, toilet facilities apart from books and bags. We also help the teachers get trained with modern techniques. In association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, we run the BBMP school at Srirampura, an area that is home to families in the BPL category. The Hoskote Girls' school that we support is due to obtain UN recognition for implementation of sanitary facilities.
Our prestigious scholarship programme is in its 18th year and helps 250 students every year obtain higher education from P.U to Engineering, Medicine and Management degrees. We disburse ₹45 lakhs every year as fees and other expenses for these students.
We are now embarking on this initiative in partnership with Dakshana Foundation to help bright students from the rural hinterland of India get trained and coached to become world class engineers and build a new future for themselves and their families.

HOW YOU CAN HELP & FUND USE
We are raising money to cover the 12-month education cost of training for one student. If we raise more funds it will help part or fully fund the education cost of the next 12 months too. This is a 24-month program. There is no cost of stay as the JNV school, at which the students study, already provides them with hostel facilities. The smallest amount you contribute will help them on their journey to enter a IIT. Once the campaign ends updates will be posted to keep the funders abreast of which student received the money and their progress.
By funding this campaign, you are eligible for tax breaks. You can avail benefits under section 80G of the IT act. All receipts for this campaign will be generated and given to you by the Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar.

Yes. The team at DAKSHANA has committed to giving us updates every 180 days on the students and the progress they are making. Once I get this information from them, I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiary.
What are the crowdfunding charges?
Fueladream charges 10% as crowdfunding charges. There is a payment gateway fee of 2% (for both the Indian and foreign gateway) plus a GST component of 2.16%. This adds up to 14.16%. There is also an initial fee of 3000 INR which is being waived for us. NETT of all these the education cost is still only 78000 INR for a 12-month period.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar. The receipts will start getting processed about 2 to 3 weeks AFTER that and will be sent to you directly.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly. It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
