Due to various reasons including pressure on existing medical infrastructure, COVID 19 testing & treatment protocols including Paediatric Intensive Care Equipment, the cost of treatment has increased substantially. This is making quality medical care especially neonatal & paediatric intensive care unaffordable for children from poor families leaving them to make some very tough choices including accepting the inevitable.
THE SOLUTION
Choice Foundation in collaboration with Little Stars Children's Hospital, is ensuring that children suffering from COVID-19 & its complications get timely and free access to treatment on par with the paying patient. The majority of the children have Mild symptoms and can be effectively managed at home via Tele-Consultation. But for children needing hospitalization cost of treatment varies based on the severity of the illness and the treatment needed.
THE AVERAGE COST OF TREATMENT FOR ONE CHILD NEEDING HOSPITALIZATION FOR COVID VARIES FROM INR 25000 TO INR 50000 PER DAY OF TREATMENT.
This cost includes Intensive Care Monitoring & Treatment, respiratory support including ventilation, all Imaging & investigations, medications, consumables and rehabilitation. Little Stars Hospital is providing doctors and infrastructure free of cost to these patients in need.
This campaign is done in partnership with Choice Foundation and the Little Star Hospital. Funding for this campaign is eligible for 80G tax breaks.

ABOUT ME
My name is Harshitha Gompa, I am 16 years old and in Grade 12.
Children from poor homes/orphanages etc with are finding it difficult to get treatment due to the high costs of treatment. Most often, parents cannot afford it and they decide not to treat the child at all I want to help prevent this.
The Choice Foundation in partnership with The Little Star Hospital has worked to create a separate wing to help treat these children. The cost to treat them involves medicines, consumables etc. Getting treatment for these children is a matter of life and death. Let us come together and ensure that these children receive the best treatment and are able to get treated by the best doctors at the Little Star Hospital.
INSIDE THE COVID WARD
Little Stars Children’s Hospital has converted its Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit (BMT) and Surgical ICU into a 12-bed Isolation ICU / Stepdown ward. The Isolation ICU is equipped with Paediatric Intensive Care & Monitoring Equipment, Ventilators, and a dedicated X-ray machine so that the patients need not leave the Isolation ICU.

CHOICE Foundation, is a Not-for-Profit organization that strives to develop an ecosystem of doctors, donors, various NGOs supporting orphanages, facilitators and other charitable institutions to provide intensive care and emergency treatment to sick children coming from socio-economically challenged families. The foundation mission to empower children with good health, irrespective of their socio-economic status has led to the initiation of some successful programs. To date, 360 children whose families could not afford care have been supported by the foundation, many of whom were critically ill and could not afford life support at private hospitals.

When do I get the receipts?
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
