During these tough times, many parents in low-income homes have lost their jobs and are struggled to raise their children and in some cases even abandoning their children. According to a study, at least 35 million children aged 6-14 years do not attend a school or have any education facility. The COVID-19 impact has made it even worse. It is necessary for people like us who are privileged to make a change in the life of those in need help.

AASHA PROJECT

AASHA Project is an initiative started by me - Yuvraj Gupta, a student at The British School. The word 'AASHA' means hope and I believe that there is always hope. The only necessary action is to show the path. AASHA Project aspires to enact as a firefly showing direction even during the darkest of times. This initiative is to help brighten up the lives of children who live in a slum in the Kishangarh area (located south of VASANT KUNJ) of New Delhi. The objective is to do something so that they make use of their idle time to do something fun and which also helps them learn and develop new skills. Am doing this in partnership with the Delhi based NGO – SAMARPAN FOUNDATION. They run a free school in this slum. These children have not been attending the school since March 2020. Kishangarh is called an Urban village/slum etc. The parents of these children are usually daily wagers.

After extensive research of the CBSE curriculum, I have come up with two different kinds of kits/games which are extremely educational. These kits are very engaging and would keep them mentally active and will also teach them to be creative. These kits have been designed in alignment with their academic curriculum and this will help them understand concepts faster once they are back at school. These two kits will be sent to their homes. Each kit has 2 toys/educational elements and will be shared by 2 children.

Just INR 500 is the cost of this kit and it will help impact 2 children. They are in the age group of 8-12.

Fund INR 5000 for example and impact 20 children.

(The working is as follows: My campaign aims to raise INR 1.5L to procure 300 kits (as each costs INR 500) and this will impact 600 students as each kit is shared by 2 students)

IMAGES OF THE GAMES/TOOLS THAT WILL BE GIVEN:

1. MY CHEMISTRY LAB SET

This kit is designed for children to be ready to think like a scientist & bring the fun back into chemistry. They learn about reactivity osmosis mixture and much more while performing fun and safe experiment at home. CONTENTS: Balloons, Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Food Colouring, Small Measuring Beakers, Droppers, Plastic Spatulas, Safety Goggles, Funnel, Illustrated instruction manual, Shoestring.

2. BRAIN TEASER PUZZLE

This game is an exciting brain teaser puzzles for kids to enjoy. This disentanglement puzzle provides for hours of entertainment. Included in this pack are a variety of different designs. In total, you get 16 pieces. It also helps the kids learn skills such as thinking and problem-solving.

STUDENTS YOU CAN IMPACT

These are students who go to the school run by SAMARPAN FOUNDATION in the Kishangarh area. They are now at home and these kits will help spread cheer, happiness and hope.

ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN

My name is Yuvraj Gupta. I am 14-years old and a Grade 9 student at The British School.

During this pandemic, I have realised how flawed our education system is. I have been lucky enough to have smart devices to attend online classes during these tough times. Think about the students from financially poor homes. Neither could they go to school nor they could afford to buy smartphones to attend the online classes. Just because people don't have enough money doesn't mean that their kids shouldn't get a good education. Most of their parents are daily wage earners meaning they live by the day. Their first concern is to put food on the table.

This is the reason I have come up with these two amazing educational kits which can be sent to their homes. These kits will help them get engaged, be creative and motivated in life.

Please support this campaign and let us together help the children from underprivileged homes.

LOCATION MAP

Children in the age group of 8-12 from the slums of Kishangarh would be the beneficiaries. They all study at a school run by SAMARPAN Foundation.

FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET

To ensure that there is complete transparency I shall get a report from SAMARPAN FOUNDATION. This takes between 1 to 3 months usually after the funds are raised & transferred to them) telling me who benefitted from the funding. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign. As soon as I post an update the platform will send an EMAIL alert to all the funders. i.e. to you. Click on the link on the email and you can read about which child benefitted. That's transparent right.

FAQs

Will we get to know the details of who benefitted?

Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to SAMARPAN. It will take from 1 to 3 months after that to get details of fund use. Once I get this information from them I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiaries. (Which student students and for how long)

When do I get the receipts?

The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
This is an open forum for all funders of this campaign.
