THE PROBLEM

Life without electricity sounds torturous and unacceptable. Electricity is a basic need for all of us, but there is an astounding number of villages in India where electricity is a distant dream. In low-income homes across Delhi NCR, several families live in darkness after sunset. They live in temporary huts (called jhuggis in local dialect) and live their daily lives hoping to get electricity so that they do not have to spend their evenings and nights in darkness and can get their phones charged.

Lifestyles are impacted as most work needs to be completed before sunset. People live with minimum access to news and information. Education suffers due to the limited amount of time children get to study. They do not have the basic amenities and nobody has done anything to change that.

THE SOLUTION

The Solar Home Lighting system has been custom-built keeping in mind the needs of underprivileged migrant labourers. They need a compact, sturdy, and portable lighting system which can provide them with multiple electricity points (for inside their homes and outside).

The HLS is an ingenious Made in India system which has been designed by Mr. Surendar Kasav (a 30 year expert in solar energy). This system has a 10 Volt battery which is charged by solar energy throughout the day and can lighten two LED bulbs of 200 lumens for 8 hours. It has one USB port in which a mobile phone can be charged overnight. Both the solar panel and HLS are portable, so they can be moved with the direction of the sun or can be taken to the fields when they work.

IT COSTS JUST INR 3000 TO BRING ELECTRICITY TO A HOME.

ABOUT ME

My name is Aadhya Jain. I am 16 years old and in Grade 11-D at Pathways School, Noida.

It is difficult for us to imagine life without electricity. It is a basic necessity of life. In villages across Delhi NCR, electricity is a distant dream and nobody has done anything to change that. People live in darkness after sunset. Lifestyles are impacted as all the work needs to be completed during the daytime. Education suffers as students do not get enough time to study. Their lives are severely impacted.

Solar Home Lighting system would be a boon for these people. These are portable and have multiple electricity points. It can also charge mobile phones. This would be highly beneficial to them. The fact that just INR 3000 will help one family made me realise I must do something about it.

Let’s impact the lives of people from underprivileged homes across Delhi NCR.

Please support my campaign as we can together transform homes with the Solar Home Lighting System.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
This is an open forum for all funders of this campaign.
Other registered users can send their comments/ queries directly to the campaign owner as a message.
