THE PROBLEM :

Malnutrition is a massive issue across India. Mumbai & Palghar districts also have a very large number of such children who are malnourished.

They are mostly stunted which means that they are not growing in height & weight as per their age.  Some of them are undernourished (their weight is not comparable to their age and height). These severe cases need nutritional supplement support and also clinical observation for any vitamin deficiency and illnesses related to that.

Imagine a 2-year-old child who weighs just 5kgs!

THE SOLUTION :

The Rotary clubs in Mumbai as a part of the District 3141 initiative are focussed on fixing this issue and are working with partner NGOs to help identify and distribute meal boxes to these children. This makes a dramatic impact on their health and wellness over time. The meal box details are detailed below.  This particular initiative is being done by Rotary Club of Bombay Pier and the Rotary Club of Bombay Hanging Garden

These meal boxes are given every month for a year to families of children who have been identified as "Moderate Acute Malnourished" (MAM).

The project POSHAK AAHAR ( पोषक आहार) aims to distribute nutritional food supplement to such families for a continuous period of 12 months. Each box has 30 different sachets ( 7/8 different products designed by specialists) to be given one every day. Distribution is done once every month. It costs just INR 3000 per year (incl. last-mile distribution). These will be distributed in different areas of Mumbai & Palghar districts. This is done in partnership with different NGOs who provide the last-mile execution capabilities.

CASE STUDIES: EXAMPLES OF SOME CHILDREN WHO WILL BENEFIT

ABOUT ME

My name is RONIT GARG, I am 16 years old in Grade 11 at the JNIS, Mumbai.

I was shocked & surprised to learn that in Mumbai and Palghar districts MALNUTRITION is a crisis that impacts thousands of children. Several children, parents, and communities are fighting the long-term ill-effects of malnourishment. It was also a pleasant surprise to learn that It just takes INR 3000 for an entire year to drastically improve the lives of a malnourished child with a POSHAK AAHAR - Food supplements in a MEAL BOX.

I request all of you to support my campaign so that we can also contribute to their well-being in our own small little way. This campaign aims to provide food supplements to the malnourished children in Mumbai & Palghar districts.

Let's come together and do our bit to help a child have a better life.

FAQs

Will we get to know the details of how the funds have been used?

Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to ROTARY PIER. It will take from 60-90 days after that to get details of how the funds have been used. Once I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiary.

When do I get the receipts?

It takes a week after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred. The receipts will start getting processed about 2 to 3 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.

It’s s concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream is a crowdfunding site and platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on a FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
