THE PROBLEM

The COVID-19 crisis has impacted millions of people.
For the daily wager, the migrant worker, and the poor this is all about survival. Food is the key requirement. The lack of a steady income or a no-income situation is what many folks are staring at. This issue is apparent even in MUMBAI and there is an urgent need to provide relief to such citizens. This FOOD-CRISIS needs to be resolved.

THE SOLUTION

Recognizing this need, the Rotary Club of Mumbai Brave Hearts and the Rotary Club of Bombay Pier began distributing packed cooked meals to the needy. The meals are delivered directly to them. The demand for food packets is overwhelming, and it is hard to turn people away when the food packs run out. The initiative is called ANNAPOORNA and different Rotary clubs in Mumbai have together distributed more than 6.5L meals as part of this initiative.

Each meal serving costs just INR 15.

ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN

My name is Rida khan. I am a grade 9 student at Bombay Scottish mahim.

As the world goes to hell in a handbasket, everyone is taking it a little differently. There are people who are anxious and fearful while there are also people who are victims of ceased business and have lost their livelihood which comes with its sequela of hunger, displacement, insolvency and destitution. Like many others, I was also moved by the plight of these people and was hounded by the question, “what can I do?” Earlier I had worked with NGOs such as Choti si Asha and Salaam Bombay to help feed the hungry during the difficult times of Covid 19. Working with them made me realise all that I can do to help those who are not as privileged as me. Crowdfunding is an amazing opportunity that helps us easily reach out to people who want to help make a difference in the world. Earlier this year I had crowdfunded to help a 10 year old boy with his operation to overcome a congenital heart disease.
Hence when I came know about the spiffing initiative of Rotary, Mumbai, I aimed to help as many people as possible. Rotary’s mission is to distribute meals every day and feed those who are hungry. I request all of you to support my campaign so we can support as many families as possible and help them get through these hard times, so that nobody sleeps hungry in Mumbai.

ABOUT OUR PARTNERS

The freshly minted Rotary Club of Mumbai BraveHearts (RCMBH) is an association of eclectic individuals. Chartered on July 2, 2020, the members of RCMBH genuinely believe in having the courage to follow their collective beliefs. Ergo, they indeed are 'Bravehearts'.

Following the legacy of the Rotary District 3141, our members come from all walks of life. We might be new, but our goals stem from the Rotarian ethos of humanitarian service to build goodwill and peace. Some of our flagship projects, like pediatric heart surgeries, affordable housing, prevention of sexual harassment, and auditory-verbal approach, have already been well received.

Feeding Hungry Stomachs is a need-based campaign providing food relief to those affected by COVID-19. It endeavors to reach out to the community caught in this pandemic without resources to fall back on. We serve meals with dignity as we strive to ensure no one goes to bed hungry.

The Rotary Club of Bombay Pier, also popularly called as RCBP, is a young, vibrant, and dynamic club of Rotary District 3141. We are currently 84 members strong. The average age of our club members is around 48 years. RCBP was chartered in 1992. Since 1992, the Rotary Club of Bombay Pier has been actively involved tackling important issues such as help empower youth, enhance health by fighting diseases, provide clean water, save mothers and children, support education, promote peace, and eradicate polio.

Our notable projects are supporting:

  1. Little Heart Surgeries ie. Pediatric heart surgeries for the underprivileged
  2. Groups of Disabled
  3. Society for the Education of the Challenged
  4. The Deaf-Blind
  5. Integrated rural village development at Jalna, Maharashtra
  6. Medical Camps at schools for the economically challenged
  7. Eradication of Polio

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
This is an open forum for all funders of this campaign.
