Today, in the midst of the global pandemic underprivileged children with hearing loss are missing out on therapy sessions and losing valuable learning time. To meet this challenge AURED has started online therapy for their students. However, to make this a success it is essential for each family and their therapists to possess a tablet through which therapy can be conducted on an ongoing basis. These children are hearing-impaired and learn to listen and speak through Auditory Verbal Therapy sessions.
More than 80% of the students come from underprivileged families. It is outside their reach to buy laptops or tablets. Many parents have even lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 situation. We now have to think of the future that will be more and more dependent on online therapy.

WHY DO THEY NEED A TABLET?
It is very important that the visuals the children see are clear. This will help them process the sounds they hear and link it to the visuals. Screen sharing is required which calls for a decent sized tablet. A sim is required as most families cannot afford Wi-Fi and the children will need an internet connection to interact with the therapists. The sim card will also enable therapists and parents to share lesson plans and teaching aids with each other.

ABOUT ME
My name is SUNNY SHAH. I am 25 years old and in Masters at Stanford University.
At 16 months, my parents and I came to AURED since we had found out that I was profoundly deaf in both my ears, owing to malformed cochleas. Since the time I joined AURED, I started utilising hearing aids in conjunction with Auditory-Verbal Therapy (AVT). I did learn how to speak and hear, but owing to my still-unclear speech, my parents decided to get cochlear implants for both my ears and so I got my implants done when I was 7 and 11 years old. Since the surgeries and the intensive therapy after, I’ve been able to do almost everything I’ve ever wanted to do - ranging from skydiving to exploring museums in Paris, and more.
Without therapy from AURED, I highly doubt I would be able to study computational engineering at Stanford University.
Without therapy from AURED, I highly doubt I would be able to speak in 4-5 languages, including Hindi and French.
Without therapy from AURED, I highly doubt I would be to reach this point in my life.

AURED has provided habilitation to deaf children and family support since 1986. Today, because of the advancement in technology, even profoundly deaf children can learn to listen and speak with the help of hearing aids and cochlear implant along with Auditory Verbal Therapy. AURED’s vision is to give every hearing impaired child the opportunity to listen and speak.
AURED has a committed team of professionals with several years of experience, but what they do need is financial aid for their various projects that help to provide critically deaf children with the opportunity to listen and speak.
TAX BENEFITS
Funding to this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as the AURED is a registered trust & you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is also accepted.
FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET
To ensure that there is complete transparency I shall get a report from the NGO telling me who benefitted from the funding. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign and will be in a format like the one below. Will we get to know the details of who benefitted?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to AURED. Once I get this information from them I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do I get the receipts?
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
