Most pencils, once sharpened down to a stub, serve no further use. A solution to combat this waste is a pencil with a water-activated seed capsule which can be planted when it becomes too short to use. It costs just INR 10 for this unique pencil. What is a writing utensil will now also grow into a plant !! The aim is to plant over 2 Million Plantable Pencils in the coming year. They usually germinate in about two weeks.
These pencils will be distributed to students at a school in Ahmedabad. When it’s time to stop writing and start planting, it’s just as much fun to watch the seeds turn into plants. All Plantable Pencil seeds have been selected because they are easy to germinate, they include chili, sesame, mustard, fennel, tomato, coriander, etc. Plantable pencils are 100% sustainable. All aspects of the plantable pencils are sustainable and non-toxic – from the biodegradable seed capsule to the 100% natural clay and graphite core and PEFC/FSC- wood.

I am RISHIRAJ ANIL SANGHVI, 12 years old, studying at the Anand Niketan School, Ahmedabad.
The idea that a pencil stub can be planted when it’s too short to write with is amazing. This gives it a new lease on life, instead of being thrown away, the pencil becomes a symbol of sustainability. Sustainability means using natural resources in a way that we could keep doing for a long time. We can be more sustainable by reducing our use of natural resources.
The use of this pencil doesn't end when it is reduced to a stub, instead, a new life begins in the way of a plant. It is important that we give back to Earth. I believe it is important to do your bit to help make the world a greener, cleaner & better place to live.

Will we get to know the details of how the money was spent?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to the Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar. It will take from 2 to 3 months after that to get details of fund use. Once we get this information from them, we shall upload this to the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the impact we have made and how the monies have been spent.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to NGO. The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly. The receipts will be sent by the Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar.
How does crowdfunding work?
