The meals are cooked in Akshaya Patra kitchens and the last mile distribution is done by the local authorities- govt and civic body teams. The cost per meal is just INR 25. So if you fund INR 2500 you fund 100 meals. The meals are typically rice and dalma ( dal and vegetables) or Veg khichdi. They also provide a bottle of water with each meal.
My name is GAAYATHRI HAASINI POTLURI. I am 13 years old and a Grade 9 student at CHIREC International School.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways. Perhaps the hardest hit is the daily wage earners, migrant labour and the financially poor. The day lockdown was announced, we all hoarded up a huge pile of necessities and food items and were ready to binge watch Netflix at home all day long. But did we once think what would the other half of the world which do not have basic necessities and are dependent on their daily wage to feed themselves and their family would be going through? The informal sector workers, who do not have any job right now are perhaps stuck in a city where they are migrant labourers and therefore have no home, will soon not have the money to feed themselves the bare minimum required to stay alive. Even after the lockdown is lifted, their plight remains the same as jobs will be scarce. They fear starvation more than the virus itself.
Our immediate priority must be to protect people from the pandemic and contain its spread, ensuring food security and preventing more people to fall below poverty line. We are the privileged ones and it is our responsibility to step up and help them. We need to have each other's back to get through these difficult times. I request all of you to support my campaign so that we can also ease their hardship in our own small way. This campaign aims to provide meals and bottled water to them across Hyderabad and is done by Akshaya Patra( through their kitchens) in close coordination with the local administration. Let's come together and do our bit to help our fellow countrymen.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation is headquartered in Bengaluru. The organization strives to eliminate classroom hunger by implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in government schools and government-aided schools. Alongside, Akshaya Patra also aims at countering malnutrition and supporting the right to education of socio-economically disadvantaged children.
Since 2000, Akshaya Patra has been concerting all its efforts towards providing fresh and nutritious meals to children on every single school day. And are continuously leveraging technology to multiply our reach. The state-of-the-art kitchens have become a subject of study and have attracted curious visitors from around the world.
Today, Akshaya Patra is the world’s largest (not-for-profit run) Mid-Day Meal Programme serving wholesome food every school day to over 1.8 million children from 19,039 schools across 12 states & 2 Union territories of India.
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as AKSHAYA PATRA is a registered NGO & you can avail of benefits under section 80G of IT act. Foreign funding is accepted too.
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to AKSHAYA PATRA. We will update you on the details of the beneficiaries as soon as possible. Once we get this information we shall upload a report on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiaries.
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
