During the COVID-19 lockdown, there is no doubt that providing food & shelter to vulnerable sections of society is of utmost importance. There are innumerable efforts by concerned citizens and NGOs to help these people in such unprecedented times. While catering to their present needs are taken care of, we need to secure the future of the children from such sections. As the families have little or no income even after the outbreak subsides, children will be often forced to drop out as they cannot afford school fees.

My friends and I are doing this campaign to help such children.

The aim of this campaign is to be able to help financially poor students in St. Anne's School, Virajpet, Coorg continue their education once the outbreak subsides. The school waives school fees to the children who are from economically stressed backgrounds, so their only expense is a government exam fee that must be paid in order to appear for their annual exams. But given the precarious situation that we are all going through, it is harder on these students whose parents cannot afford to pay that either. If they can not appear for the exams, they will stop their education. It is unfair that some children will have to drop out of school due to this pandemic.

IT COSTS JUST INR 2500 TO ENSURE THAT AN UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENT STAYS IN SCHOOL FOR A YEAR.

ABOUT ME

My name is NEEL PRAKASH, I am 17-years old and a Class 12 student at the St. Joseph's Boys' High School in Bangalore.

My friends and I got together and were brainstorming on how we can help during the COVID- 19 lockdown period. It struck us that the best way to make use of our time would be to help the children of daily wage workers ensure that they continue with their studies after the lockdown ends. We realized that while a lot of effort was being made to ensure they are not hungry & homeless, there were not many efforts to reduce the long time consequences of this pandemic on the underprivileged.

So we decided to help the students of St. Anne's School, Virajpet, Coorg. With your help, we can secure the future of many children. I request all of you to support our campaign so that we can also contribute to their well-being in our own small little way.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways. Perhaps the hardest hit is the underprivileged sections of the society - particularly those who are daily wage earners. Suddenly they are without any source of income, and they are not even able to provide food or the basic hygiene facilities to their families, let alone afford school fees. At this juncture, we, the more privileged sections of the society need to step up to support them in this difficult time.

BENEFICIARY SCHOOL

FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET

To ensure that there is complete transparency, I will post feedback about 2 -3 months after the campaign gets over telling you which student has benefited. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign and will be in a format like the one below. As soon as I post an update, the platform will send an EMAIL alert to you. Click on the link on the email and you can read about which child benefitted. That's transparent right?

FAQs

Will we get to know the details of the students who benefitted?

I shall upload the details of which student has benefitted on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read about the details of the beneficiaries.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
This is an open forum for all funders of this campaign.
Other registered users can send their comments/ queries directly to the campaign owner as a message.
