Water is the key to life. Millions of women in rural India walk many kilometers a day to get water from a distant water source like a river, lake or pond. They do this by carrying pots or vessels on their heads and make multiple trips. This takes up all their time, creates health issues (as it impacts the back, neck, etc) and leads to unnecessary stress.
We can change that with a simple, low cost and amazing innovation called the Water Wheel - a simple, low cost, high impact initiative that allows them to carry a large volume of water with minimal effort. This saves them time, energy and is a game-changer in rural areas. They can use the time saved for the betterment of their families. It also creates social change as men step forward and use the water wheel to get water.
The cost of each Water Wheel is just INR 2500, including distribution.
I am raising INR 25,000 or more to impact 10 women or more in rural areas of Karjat by giving each of them a Water Wheel. Each water wheel has a capacity of 45 liters and one trip in a day is enough for the needs of the entire household typically.
These funds will be used for funding 10 women by giving them a water wheel each. If I raise INR 50000, I can impact 20 women.
ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN:
My name is Tejas Chakrabarti. I am a Grade 8 student at Podar Intl. School, Worli.
For my campaign, I decided to look at an issue that has very widespread effects. My campaign looks to cater to the issue of Global Warming. Global warming is a problem at a very large scale, however, each and every one of us has noticed it's severe effects in the recent years, be it delayed monsoon periods, or the ever recurring theme of drought across the country.
In recent years as well, the state of Maharashtra has seen some peculiar weather patterns, from extreme drought to extreme floods, creating a menace for not just the farmers and their plants, but the wildlife as well.
This periodic yet extreme weather change has seen some of the most beautiful bird species to being put on the brink of endangerment. Further, it has degraded soil quality in order for crops and trees to grow.
My solution is to create a patch of man-made forest roughly 3 acres large in order to provide with a sanctuary for migratory animals, and help in maintaining the constant flood and drought changes in the area.
FEATURES & SPECS
The water wheel is a cylindrical plastic container that can hold up to 45 liters of water. The handles help people to roll it on the ground without the physical strain that occurs while carrying water pots on head, shoulders or waist.
LOCATION & MAP
The map shown here highlights the location of the area where these Water Wheels will be distributed.

FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET
To ensure that there is complete transparency I shall get a report from NGO (this takes between 2 to 4 months usually after the funds are raised & transferred to them) telling me who benefitted from the funding. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign. As soon as I post an update, the platform will send an SMS and EMAIL alert to all the funders - i.e. to you. That's transparent right.
The below image is an example of the FEEDBACK FORMAT that will be shared.
Will we get to know the details of how the money was spent?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Rotary Club of Bombay Central Island Trust. It will take from 60 to 120 days after that to get details of who the beneficiary was with details of them. Once I get this information from them I shall upload the picture of the beneficiary on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2-3 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to the NGO. The receipts will start getting processed about 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
