Hand-washing with soap is a simple low cost, high impact initiative that can help prevent deadly diseases like diarrhea and respiratory disorders.

Did you know that 1800 kids die every day in India because of these disorders?

In order to do this, we need to provide the right infrastructure at govt and Zilla Parishad schools in both rural and urban India as a first step. This crowdfunding initiative of mine is a campaign that is being done by me and my fellow students at The Cathedral And John Connon School in Mumbai to raise funds to set up such handwashing stations in schools in the Palghar district of Maharashtra. This will save lives and build a healthy generation of children.

My aim is to raise 27500 INR to fund the cost of making and installing an entire hand wash station at a govt school in the Palghar area near Mumbai. This is being done in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bombay and is part of the initiative of Rotary District 3141. This effort champions the cause of health and hygiene and is a low cost, high impact initiative. Each hand station will be used every day by at least 100 to 1000 students depending on the school size. Imagine how many kids will lead a healthier life because of you?

If I raise 27500 INR it will be used for making one hand-wash station. If I raise 40000 INR I can fund one and part-fund another. Similarly raising INR 55000 helps us fund two such stations.

My name is ISHA MODY and I am in Grade 12 at The Cathedral And John Connon School in Mumbai.

I have undertaken this campaign because I believe this is a very important facet of any kid’s life. The team from Fueladream had a session at our school and I was shocked by the numbers and facts. I could not believe that 1800 kids die every day in our country because of poor hygiene.

Imagine how many fall ill every day?

The fact a simple hand-wash station can impact thousands of children over a lifetime made me realize that I must do something about it. The fact that raising 27500 INR can be a game-changer is very exciting for me. Getting a hand wash station in a school will definitely transform their lives and the lives of their families. Please support my campaign and let us together bring hygiene into the lives of these students and make for a healthier and safer India for these fellow students.

The map below highlights the location of Palghar district. This is located very close to Mumbai. Its a relatively poor district with a high tribal area population.

The Rotary Club of Bombay is one of the pioneers in India of the Rotary movement, devoted to the ideal of Fellowship through service. It was founded on March 19, 1929. The membership of the Club has grown from 38 in 1929 to around 350 today. The unique single classification concept of Rotary allows the Rotary Club of Bombay a membership compromising a high-performance cross-section of Bombay’s successful business and professional men and women, all accomplishers in their own field ranging from doctors to architects, legal luminaries to bankers, entrepreneurs to educationalists and merchandisers to communicators.

From the very beginning, the pulse of Rotary has been and always will be Community Service. Today the Rotary Club of Bombay has diversified its activities through the work of over fifty committees constituted to look after the various avenues of service.

This initiative to provide Hand Wash stations to rural schools in Palghar district is a very important initiative for the club.

Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as Rotary Club of Bombay is a registered trust & you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is accepted too.

To ensure that there is complete transparency the team at Rotary club of Bombay will post feedback about 4-8 months after the campaign gets over telling us which school the hand-wash station has been installed at and how your funds were used. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign and will be in a format like the one below. As soon as I post an update, the platform will send an SMS and EMAIL alert to you. Click on the link on the email and you can read about which child benefitted. That's transparent right.

Sharing an example of the FEEDBACK FORMAT that we will be given to all my funders.

Will we get to know the details of the schools benefitted?

Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Rotary Club of Bombay. It will take from 4-8 months after that to get details of which school is the beneficiary with details. Once I get this information from them I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the beneficiaries.

When do I get the receipts?

It takes up to 2-3 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to Rotary Club of Bombay. The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
This is an open forum for all funders of this campaign.
