FUNCTIONAL ART FOR A CAUSE
Myraa creations came into existence out of my passion for art. I am a professionally qualified interior designer & artist. I want to change everyday objects using art. Mass-manufactured machine-made soulless objects surround us and fill our daily lives. Why can’t some of them be personalized, and invested with a human touch, and given an angle of art, so that these objects too can have a soul and fill our lives with positive vibes.
Thus “Myraa Creations” was born, named after my little daughter “Myraa”. Team Myraa comprises of some women artisans who I have trained & mentored. Myraa Creations designs and produces hand-crafted products which are the labor of love & passion. The underprivileged women employed with it are mostly semi-literate women who have picked up & polished their skills by putting in a lot of hard work. Some of these women were working as house-maids & have now completely given up that work & are leading a much more dignified life by working as full-time artisans.
This work has created a sense of self-awareness & self-reliance amongst these women. The money generated through work is not only used for their domestic support but also for educating their children. In this sense, not only are households being supported, but lives are being created and molded through this venture.
The handcrafted product range includes table lamps, serving trays in different sizes, coasters, and souvenir boxes. All the products are hand-painted on canvas in acrylic colors using Indian ethnic folk art as a theme.
Apart from these products, we are launching a special product for this campaign – Nameplate, a hand-painted customized plate with a name written on 9”x5” canvas, protected by glass and framed in a beautiful PUF framing. This nameplate can be used in offices as well as residences. In offices, this can be kept on the desk or hung outside on the door of the cabin, giving a beautiful touch with a lot of character. In residences, it can be hung outside the entrance door, announcing the name of the resident proudly and artistically.
Every product you order will be utilized towards skill development of women artisans
Myraa creations has been supplying these products to many upmarket retail & online stores, but now have collaborated with 64kala to expand its reach. We have decided to crowdfund a few products so that these wonderful products can reach more and more people and add a human touch and some color to their lives. Through this campaign, we are looking forward to adding new product range & to train more women artisans and create more job opportunities for them. The money raised will mean the growth of underprivileged women artisans employed with it.
I am a qualified interior designer/entrepreneur who has been creating functional art for a long time. I have been working in this field for many years & have showcased my work through various exhibitions. The idea of venturing into this creative field was not the pursuit of fame & recognition but to bring art into everyday life.
In this era of mass-production through machines & technology, it is very easy to make mass products & sell at dirt cheap prices. The decision to break away from this cycle was a conscious one as ‘art is a therapy’ for me. Creating something with your own hands is not only therapeutic but it imparts a soothing & calming effect to the ambiance where it is added
All my products are inspired by Indian folk art which I have twisted a little to give it a modern & functional look.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries
