THE PROBLEM:

Imagine 5 crore children with disabilities. That's 5 crore young lives.
India has a large number of children who experience developmental delays or disabilities. These may be visible, like muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and Down’s syndrome, or invisible, like autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
These conditions can be genetic or acquired, with poor nutrition and poverty as risk factors. They affect a child’s physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, or behavioural development.

Without early identification and sustained support, these barriers follow a child for life, often leading to bullying, dropping out of school, mental health challenges, and social exclusion.
THE SOLUTION:
Ummeed Child Development Center is an NGO in Mumbai, founded in 2001 by Dr Vibha Krishnamurthy, one of India's first trained developmental paediatricians.
The organisation aims to help children who have, or are at high likelihood of developing, developmental disabilities reach their full potential and fully integrate into society.
This is achieved through collaborative, evidence-based care, family empowerment, active advocacy, and inclusive community support.

They work with children affected by developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Learning Disability, Autism, and Attention Deficit Disorder.
Most families at Ummeed come from low-to-middle-income backgrounds. No child or family is turned away for lack of funds.

Ummeed believes financial constraints should never be a barrier to care, providing subsidised support to the vast majority of families.

FUND GENEROUSLY:
If you fund,
INR 10,000, you impact the lives of four children.
INR 20,000, you impact the lives of eight children.
INR 50,000, you impact the lives of twenty children.
INR 1,00,000, you impact the lives of forty children.

A child's outcomes depend on more than clinical care alone; they depend on caregivers, doctors, teachers, and communities. Ummeed addresses barriers at every level: children, families, professionals, and society.

ABOUT ME:

My name is MEHAK DASSANI, and I am raising funds for Ummeed Child Development Center, a Mumbai-based NGO that has spent 25 years helping children with developmental disabilities like cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and learning disabilities reach their full potential.
In India, over 5 crore children live with or are at high likelihood of a developmental delay or disability, yet the ratio of trained professionals to children in need is just 1:350. Early identification and timely support can change a child's entire life trajectory, but too many families don't know where to turn.
Since 2001, Ummeed has directly cared for 16,400+ children and reached more than 7,30,000 children through trained professionals, teachers, and health workers. Fund INR 10,000, for example, and transform the lives of 4 children.
I have seen what the right support can mean for a family: a child who was once excluded from school went on to become a class monitor. Your contribution will help fund concessional clinical care, early intervention training, and inclusive classrooms, so more children can be seen, supported, and given the future they deserve.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding
