For many, access to assistive and mobility devices remains a challenge. Timely intervention can improve their independence and quality of life. Mobility India has proven that customised orthoses - such as a brace, calliper, splint, shoe insert, ankle-foot orthosis, knee-ankle-foot orthosis, or spinal brace - can make a significant difference.

They provide custom-fitted orthoses such as braces, splints, and shoe inserts to children, women and the elderly from low-income families in Karanataka. Over the years, Mobility India has trained 11,762 rehabilitation personnel across 25 Indian states and 34 countries, while supporting 350 grassroots organisations pan-India. Its training programmes are recognised by the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) and affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
Through this project, Mobility India aims to provide 400 custom orthoses, including Ankle-Foot Orthosis (AFO), Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO), spinal braces, knee gaiters, and splints to people from economically weaker sections, with priority given to women, children, and older adults. This sustainable and scalable initiative can help improve access to rehabilitation care in urban and rural areas, supporting early identification of mobility-related conditions and preventing them from progressing into long-term disability.
A single contribution of INR 15,000 funds the entire cost of crafting a personalised Ankle-Foot Orthosis (AFO), Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO), or spinal support brace, including all specialised materials, component costs, and expert fabrication.

Each person who receives a customised orthosis goes through the following process:
)
• Clinical assessment and prescription by qualified prosthetists/orthotists and Physiotherapists.
• Custom fabrication of callipers, ankle-foot orthoses, spinal braces, and splints using appropriate materials.
• Fitting, gait training, and caregiver education for each beneficiary, along with follow-up.
Users reach Mobility India through walk-ins, doctor referrals, local health workers, Anganwadi centres, schools, word of mouth, or previous beneficiaries. After registration and socio-economic assessment, the clinical team evaluates the condition, takes measurements or a cast, fabricates the device, fits and adjusts it, and trains the user and caregivers. Progress is documented with family consent.
Since children below 18 years outgrow their devices quickly, they typically require a new orthosis every year, while adults usually need a replacement every two years.

My name is ARADHANA DILIP. I am 16 years old and a Grade 11 student at DPS Bangalore North.
This campaign of mine aims to support children and adults with disabilities from low-income families in Bengaluru and Karnataka by helping them get a mobility device.
Mobility India’s rehabilitation centre in Bengaluru has the clinical expertise, fabrication workshop and follow-up systems already in place. What is needed is the funding to impact these children and adults from low-income homes.
Each custom orthosis/device costs INR 15,000. This amount covers the full process at Mobility India: clinical assessment, raw materials, measurement and fabrication, fitting, gait training and follow-up. One well-fitted device can help a child walk to school more steadily or enable an adult to manage daily activities with greater independence. Many of the families who come to Mobility India simply cannot afford this cost on their own.

Mobility India was established in 1994 and has its registered office in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is a leading organisation in disability, rehabilitation and development that promotes disability-inclusive development. The organisation provides physical rehabilitation and assistive technology services that enhance independence, mobility, participation and well-being for persons with disabilities, older people and others in need, particularly those who are poor and disadvantaged. It also runs formal and non-formal education and training programmes for a multidisciplinary rehabilitation workforce. TAX BENEFITS:
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks, as Mobility India is a registered NGO and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT Act. Foreign funding is not accepted.
