My name is Aradhya Talan and I am in Grade 11 at the Billabong High at Malad.

I have undertaken this campaign because a high percentage of senior citizens in our country are treated poorly by their own children. Parents sacrifice the best years of their lives to support and care for us but when they grow old, we turn our backs on them. Just like how you needed their help back then, now they need yours. Our generation is selfish. If you go on the roadside, you will see many older people who share a similar story of their children abandoning them. There are many sad stories out there about children kicking their parents out of their house because they felt them as a burden.
Many problems are being taken care of charities and non-profit organisations but helping the senior citizens isn't as much on focus as it should be.

The fact that 20,000 Rupees can provide a full day's meal for nearly 60 people for a week is mind-blowing.

The ultimate goal is to be providing food, cheap sleeping arrangements in shelters and proper medicine for as many of these senior citizens as we can. We'll be working in the rural areas of Maharashtra to look for these older people in need.

These people should know that it won't be long before their own children do this thing to them that they've done to their parents.
