Health education teaches students about physical, mental, emotional and social health. It motivates students to improve and maintain their health, prevent diseases etc. It is critical that students are exposed to this at a young age. This will help them make healthy choices throughout their lifetime. Government schools do not have the infrastructure facilities, labs or teaching staff to support this. This results in underprivileged children not gaining sufficient exposure.

It is critical that we help every child get access to health education. The Rotary Health Education Centre is a huge step in this direction. This will be located at Govt Model high school, Sector 22 D, Chandigarh.

We, the members of The Rotary Club of Chandigarh, are raising INR 2 CR (cost of the project) to create the first Health Education Centre in India. The centre is being set-up at Chandigarh (Govt Model high school, Sector 22 D) and will have world-class facilities. The Centre shall be equipped with modern audio-visual aides, mannequins, and scientific equipment to educate young school children. This is being done in partnership with the Chandigarh Administration and McMillen Health Centre, Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA. The total built-up area of the centre is 8800 sq. ft.

The building will have 2 components:

1. Renovating and transforming an existing school building.

2. Building an extension  (about 700 sq. ft).

The classrooms at the Health Centre will be fun, exciting and will impart experiential learning. The Centre will educate school students (Grade 1-12) who study at Government schools at zero costs. There are about 120 such schools located in and around Chandigarh.

The Rotary Health Education Centre will have 3 classrooms (accommodates 50 students each). Two hour sessions will be conducted for each batch and 2-3 such batches will be conducted per day. CBSE curriculum will be followed. Schools will bring their students during class hours which will help them get practical exposure to the lessons that are covered in textbooks.

Lessons will be taught in English and Hindi.

There are over 50 members from my Rotary Club who are doing this campaign. Together, we need to raise a massive amount of INR 2 CR. Please continue to fund my campaign even if it goes past its goal.

This centre is expected to impact an estimated 5 Lakh children over a 10-year period. (We expect 70000 to 1 Lakh students to visit per year. However there will be children who visit more than once over a 10-year period). That works out to just INR 40 per child on a INR 2 CR cost.

  • INR 4000, you impact 100 students.

  • INR 8000, you impact 200 students.

  • INR 20000, you impact 500 students.

All funding is eligible for 80G tax benefits.

For those of you who want to fund large amounts, we would like to recognise your generosity so that your legacy will be captured for generations to come.

The exhibits will be procured from different parts of India and abroad. For example, there is a very innovative model of the human body that uses hologram technology to educate students. This one-of-a-kind exhibit costs INR 34L and will be sourced from Italy. It will be the centrepiece of this initiative.

  • Fund as individuals
  • Get your friends to fund by sharing this campaign.
  • Ask your company to fund through CSR.

Your efforts will help impact thousands of children.

My name is DINESH DUA. I am a member of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh.

I have undertaken this campaign because I think it is important that every child understands the importance of health and good practices about how the human body works from that perspective. Children from low-income homes who go to govt schools in Chandigarh and surrounding areas often lack exposure academically and practically to such education and information - health education is not taught scientifically and practically. COVID has actually taught us a lot about basic health practices and I was intrigued when I learned about the Health Education Centre concept.

This is a very innovative center that exposes children to concepts about the human body and health and gets them to learn in sync with their school syllabus. It will take care of the gap that GOVT schools and other schools have where they do not have the necessary resources and teachers to provide exposure to their students when it comes to health.

Through this campaign, we at the Rotary Club of Chandigarh are committed to setting up India's first Health Education Centre in Chandigarh. The center will have world-class facilities with exhibits and models sourced from around the world. This will be an eye-opener for these students. The teachers and staff at the center will be well-qualified and will be trained at the McMillen Health Centre, the USA which already has such a center running.

This will have a transformational effect on the learning experience of children in the years to come and impact the quality of their health, and the quality of their education and enhance their interest in learning. This center will cost 2 crore INR in total to set up and over a 10-year period is forecast to impact approx 5L children. (The number estimated is about 70K to 1L per year. However, there will be children who visit more than once over a 10-year period). That works out to a meagre amount of INR 40 per child. So if you fund INR 4000 you potentially impact 100 children. Similarly, INR 40000 impacts 1000 children over a 10-year ago.

Please fund my campaign as a simple act of kindness on your part can have a profound impact on the lives of thousands of students in the years to come. Let us come together to impact the lives of the NEXT GENERATION.

The centre will be located at the Govt Model High School, Sector 22 D, Chandigarh.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
